Over 16 square miles of the Santa Monica Mountains and foothills, and Ventura Blvd corridor, populated by 100,000+ Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Bel-Air residents, are impacted. The area includes protected parklands, open spaces, wildlife, and is designated as a Fire Hazard Severity Zone.

THE PROBLEM & OUR MISSION

Since January 2019, Sherman Oaks & Encino for Quiet Skies has advocated for a solution to the FAA’s disruptive aviation routes across new communities including noise-sensitive, protected open spaces, high elevations and Fire Hazard Severity Zone-designated areas of the foothills and Santa Monica Mountains. SOEQS focuses on solutions at Van Nuys Airport, while supporting other organizations that focus on Burbank Airport.
